Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas, also called Ashanti, was born on 13 October, 1980 at Glen Cove New York United States. She is an American singer as well as songwriter. Ashanti was a teenager actor and singer American, had her name signed by Murder Inc. Records to release her debut album in 2002. The same year she also appeared on Fat Joe's What's Luv? The track "What's love?" by Fat Joe and Ja Rule, entitled Always on Time are both massive hits. The first female artist to have the first and second spots within the Billboard Hot 100 list in the United States with Foolish at the top spot and Luv? at number two. Luv? second place. Tina Douglas, her mother was a former dance instructor. Ken-Kaide Douglas is her father. Kenashia Shai Douglas is her sister. She is the oldest of them all. Douglas chose her name in honor of her father, who was a member of the Ashanti Empire located in Ghana in which women ruled and influence and Douglas wanted Ashanti to model that same pattern. James her father was a leader in civil rights who collaborated with Martin Luther King Jr. during the 1960s. Ashanti was caught by her mom when she saw Ashanti singing Mary J. Blige s song Reminisce. Ashanti was on the screen as a child on Spike Lee's Malcolm X and Malcolm X in 1992. In addition, she played part on Ted Demme's Who's the Man? A few of her cameos were in music video clips like K.R.S. Act One's MC's Like They Do Not Know and 8 Off's Ghetto Woman. Ashanti was sought out and signed by various record labels, including Bad Boy. She also had a few cameos in music videos. She continued to perform at New York, and she started to visit the Murder Inc. studios hoping for a breakthrough. Ashanti first appeared on the track of Big Pun's We Roll as a backing vocalist. She was also featured on the single by Fat Joe,"What's Luv?" Ja Rule's "Always on Time" and Fat Joe's What's Luv! The track was a sample of DeBarge's 1983 single Stay With Me for her first single Foolish. The first album of her own that was released on The album by Irv's Murder Inc. in 2002 was Ashanti. The Declaration, her fourth studio album was released in June of 2008. Hey Baby, After the Club (released via radio and digital formats) was released on October 16, 2008. The singer played Latasha on Army Wives and starred in the movie Christmas in the City. Aitch has sampled Rock wit U in his Baby on the 10th of March 2022.
